DouBle B: RAMAH aka The Lord of Darkness from KILLCAM is taking over the picks for what goes on #MusicMonday this week.
First up is this banned 90’s Lunchablez commercial from Mike Diva. The disclaimer at the beginning of the beginning gives you a good idea of whats gonna go wrong:
“In 1996 Lunchablez developed an ad to appeal towards urban youth. The commercial never saw the light of day, until now…“
The 2015 Grammy Awards nominees were announced last week, and I’ve decided to make my picks. Not necessarily who I think will win, which I don’t have a clue and don’t really care, but who I WANT to win, or, in the case of the more obscure categories, a shot in the dark. Note that I am not exactly on top of all the hottest new tracks, although I am making a concentrated effort to do so.
There’s 8 million categories to cover, so lets get started…
“But I won’t sit idly by
I’m planning a big surprise
I’m gonna fight
For what I want to be”
– Fugazi (“Waiting Room”)
DC (Washington DC fuckheads, not the comic label) punk icons Fugazi have been on “indefinite hiatus” since three sold-out gigs at the London Forum in England on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 2002. They haven’t ruled out playing together again, and have even been offered “insane amounts of money to play reunions“, but nothing’s come of it yet.
“Why is the bedroom so cold?
You’ve turned away on your side.
Is my timing that flawed?
Our respect runs so dry.
Yet there’s still this appeal
That we’ve kept through our lives.”
– Joy Division
Amid all this posting today I nearly forgot, it #MusicMonday. So I thought I’d share this video of Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan joining former Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook‘s band The Light to cover Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart“.
Speaking of the Pumpkins, seeing this video made me remember a piece I wrote on DouBle B Reviews in March 2012, theres a bunch of great videos from their albums through Machinima. I thought I’d post it with a (few cosmetic tweaks) on here:
They say every good girl wanna bad boy, only gonna be good to her.
They say every bad boy want a good girl, only gonna be bad to him…
Theophilus London was actually my first Artist of the Week on my old website, DouBle B Reviews, his Timez Are Weird These Days album is one of my favorite of the last five or so years. Lets stop right there…it’s late here in Seattle and I’ve had a busy day of doing jack squat thanks to a lovely hangover, so I’m gonna get right to the point and try to wrap this up quickly. Things will ramp up on the site in the next couple of days.
Ok, first up we have the video for Tribe (featuring Jesse Boykins III), the lead single from the just released Vibes, an album that executive produced by none other than Kanye West.
Second, and last, we have the entire Vibes album…
