HAWK’S NFL DIVISIONAL ROUND PICKS: 2017 Edition

HAWK’s NFL DIVISIONAL  ROUND PICKS: 2017 Edition
Picked 3 of 4 correct winners in the Wildcard Round last week. 4 more to pick this week as we enter the second round of the playoffs.

Saturday Night Divisional Playoffs
#3 Seattle Seahawks (11-5-1) at #2 Atlanta Falcons  (11-5)
(-5.0) (O/U 51.5) 1:35 PM Fox

We start the second round of the playoffs with a good one. These two teams faced off during week 6. It was played in Seattle and the Seahawks pulled off a dramatic 26-24 victory.

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman and Falcons leading receiver Julio Jones went toe to toe the whole game,
but Jones got the better of him, statistically anyways. He had 7 catches for 139 yards and a Td on 9 targets. But it was Sherman that had a crucial stop on 4th and 10 in the final 1:39 of the game that would end the Falcons final attempt at a comeback.
Stopping the best receiver in the NFL is no small task but Seattle’s depleted secondary that is missing Earl Thomas will have to do just that. Sherman was not guarding Jones every play last game but he may have to be in this time. Atlanta struggled to run the ball against the Seahawks in the week 6 matchup, which is no surprise. Few teams in the league have been able to run against Bobby Wagner and company this season as they rank 7th best in the league.

Hawk’s 2016 NFL Picks: Week 4

By Brent “The Hawk” Walker

Week 4 Byes: Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles

[arve url=”https://youtu.be/0VTjBTz9LeM”]

Really rough week for me yet again going 6-10 for the second time in a row, which puts me at 21-27 for the year. Good God! In my defense this season has been nuts so far.
But still I have to get my shit together. Time to rebound.

Indianapolis Colts (1-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3) (in Wembley Stadium, London)
(+2.5.) (O/U 49.0)
So they’re doing the whole play NFL games in London thing again this year. I think there is two more.  I’m not a big fan of them myself. I don’t like missing any football ever and I will not be up for the 6:30 am kickoff.
Besides, it’s such a long commute for both teams and usually ends up being a lousy game.
Depends on which team can handle the jet lag better I guess.

Hawk’s NFL Picks: Week 13

A 9-7 record last week puts me at 97-79 for the year as the season continues to fly by. On we go.
Hawks-NFL-Picks-Week-13
Seattle Seahawks (6-5) at Minnesota Vikings (8-3)
(+1.0) (41.5 O/U)

Big playoff implications in this one.
Seattle won a shootout last week against the Steelers 39-30. In that win Russell Wilson had his best game of the year, if not his NFL career, completing 21-30 passes for 345 yards and 5 Td’s.
This is good news for an offense that has been stagnant, but it’s an offense that will have to change after losing Tight End Jimmy Graham for the year with a torn patellar tendon.  Defensively the Seahawks gave up a franchise record 456 passing yards to Ben Roethilsberger, who torched them all game. While this is somewhat concerning, considering how dominant the Seahawks defense has been the last 3 years, one most also take into perspective the fact that Seattle was scoring so quickly the Steelers had more possessions  than normal.
Minnesota is once again in first place in their division. The defeat of the Falcons 20-10 combined with a Green Bay loss to Chicago last week is why. Adrian Peterson had another monster game compiling 158 yards and 2 Td’s and remains the league’s leading rusher with 1,164 yards. AP remains far and away the best weapon the Vikings have so expect the Seahawks to stack the box up front and make QB Teddy Bridgewater beat them, which he won’t do.

Hawk’s 2015 NFL Preview: Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks
Seattle-Seahawks-Logo
After pulling off perhaps the greatest comeback in NFL history in the NFC Championship against the Packers, Seattle was just one yard short of becoming a Super Bowl Champion for the second consecutive year in 2014. Some of my earliest memories are of  watching the Seahawks with my dad, and I must say I never in a million years could imagine that the outcome of sports game could hurt as bad as that did. I’m pretty sure I was clinically depressed for quite some afterwords. Luckily this video would cheer me up when I was feeling especially down.
It was one of the greatest Super Bowls ever played, and I hope I never see it again. I feel my heart breaking just talking about it again, but the show must go on, the quest for redemption for players, coaches, and fans starts now.
