Hawk’s 2016 NFL Picks: Jags at Titans

Thursday-Night-Football-Logo
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-4) at Tennessee Titans (3-4)
(-3.5) (O/U 43.5)
I have to be honest with you guys, I don’t give two shits about either one of these teams and I have had one busy week. While my Thursday Night picks are usually intentionally longer than the Sunday picks I have decided to make an exception here.

I really thought the Jaguars would step it up this year and possibly even be the AFC South champions. Clearly that has not happened. They have been struggling per usual. Lucky for them they are in the worst division in football.  As I have stated earlier 7-9 wins this division. I have picked the Jaguars as winners often and they really have not delivered and it’s pissing me off. So I am picking against them here.

Hawks NFL Picks: Titans at Jaguars (Thursday Night Football)

By Brent “The Hawk” Walker

Tennessee Titans (2-7) at Jacksonville Jaguars (3-6)
Line: Jax -3

Talk about a stinker of a Thursday Night game. Both of these teams have struggled all season, but as per usual I am going with the home team in this situation. I actually think the Jaguars are just the better team in general here, and call me crazy but I still think they are an up and coming team.
2nd year QB Blake Bortles actually has two really good receivers to throw to in the the two Allen’s, Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns whom are also both in their second year. Robinson has 45 catches for 758 yards and 7 Td’s and Hurns has 41 catches for 697 yards and 7 TD’s. Seeing those two guys compete with a Titans passing defense that is ranked third in the league could be interesting. We will see what those guys are made of.
The other young gun in this game is Marcus Mariota, who has had an up and down season, which is to be expected out of rookie qb. I think he will eventually turn into a franchise player, but before that can happen they need to give him so more weapons to throw to. He has a good tight end in Delanie Walker whom is his leading receiver but there is a significant drop off in his potential targets from there. Neither Kendall Wright nor Justin Hunter are talented enough to be #1 or #2 receivers on essentially any other team and he has no choice but to throw to them.
Tennessee needs a decent running back as well to take some of the pressure off of Mariota. They don’t have a running back that has run over 300 yards yet and this is week 11. Tennessee’s lack of offensive talent will most likely cost them in this game.
Pick: Jaguars 20 Titans 17

The AFC South, which includes the Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Houston bounced back in a big way from it’s 2-14 by going 9-7 in 2014.
J.J Watt dominated once again, and did it with a smile on his face.
Aside from recording 20.5 sacks, (second only to Justin Houston‘s 22), he had 4 forced fumbles, and led the league with 140 yards lost on sack. He also had 2 defensive TD’s (One from an interception and one from a fumble) and 3 receiving TD’s as the Texans would put him on offense in red zone opportunities. No surprise Watt was not only chosen unanimously as a a first team all pro, but unanimously chosen as A.P defensive player of the year,  which had never happened before.
