Hawk’s 2016 NFL Picks: Week 4

By Brent “The Hawk” Walker

Week 4 Byes: Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles

[arve url=”https://youtu.be/0VTjBTz9LeM”]

Really rough week for me yet again going 6-10 for the second time in a row, which puts me at 21-27 for the year. Good God! In my defense this season has been nuts so far.
But still I have to get my shit together. Time to rebound.

Indianapolis Colts (1-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3) (in Wembley Stadium, London)
(+2.5.) (O/U 49.0)
So they’re doing the whole play NFL games in London thing again this year. I think there is two more.  I’m not a big fan of them myself. I don’t like missing any football ever and I will not be up for the 6:30 am kickoff.
Besides, it’s such a long commute for both teams and usually ends up being a lousy game.
Depends on which team can handle the jet lag better I guess.
Pick: Jaguars

Hawk’s 2016 NFL Picks: Week 2

Started off strong in the early games last week, but  faded in the late ones, finishing up with a 9-7 week 1 record.

[arve url=”https://youtu.be/gOu–iRBTtg”]

What a hell of a start to the year though as 11 of the 16 games were decided by one possession, including a few dramatic comebacks. Most notably the Chiefs coming back from a 24-3 deficit late in the 3rd quarter to take it to OT. Here’s to hoping for another exciting week.

Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0)
(-3.0) (O/U 48.5)

Cincy scraped out a 23-22 victory over the Jets in week 1,with a game winning Mike Nugent field goal with less than a minute left in the game.
Pittsburgh took only a 14-6 lead over the Redskins into halftime before blowing them out of the water in the second and winning 38-16.

The Ben Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown combo was once again dominating as Brown would haul in 8 catches for 126 yards and two Td’s. One of the better rivalries in football today, but the Steelers are incredibly dangerous and it’s in Pittsburgh.
Pick: Steelers

Hawk’s 2016 NFL Picks: Week 1

Picking winners in week 1 is a crap shoot. You just never know what good teams from last year will fall apart this and what bad team will step it up and become playoff contenders. But I am committed again this year so let’s get right to it.

Green Bay Packers at Jacksonville Jaguars
(+4.5) (O/U 48.0)

Everyone always like picking the Packers. They have a high powered offense with Aaron Rodgers, and Jordy Nelson is back after missing all of last season.
But you know who else has a high powered offense? This Jaguars team. Blake Bortles threw for 4428 yards and 35 TD’s last year. Mainly to his two elite receivers Allen Robinson (1,400 yards, 14 Td’s) and Allen Hurns, ( 1,031 yards, 10 Tds) their defense needs work but they can keep up with the Packers high paced offense.

Hawks NFL Picks: Week 9

By Brent “The Hawk” Walker

A week 8 record of 7-7 puts me at 67-52 for the year.
Damn! the regular season is officially half over already. Week 9 here I come.
Hawks-NFL-Picks-Week-9
Team byes: Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) at New York Jets (4-3)
Line: NYJ -9.0
O/U: 40

New York suffered a surprising loss to Oakland last week. A team with one of the best defenses in the NFL got shredded by Derek Carr and company, but what better way to bounce back than to play a home game against the lowly Jaguars?
Pick: Jets

Hawk’s 2015 NFL Preview: NFC South Edition

The NFC South, which includes New Orleans Saints, the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta enters 2015 without head coach Mike Smith for the first time since 2008 after back to back losing records of 4-12 in 2013 and 6-10 in 2014, to go along with an unimpressive 1-4 overall playoff record. Smith will be replaced by former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. In 2013 (his first as the Seahawks Defensive coordinator) Seattle led the NFL in fewest points allowed, fewest yards allowed and most turnovers, the first time this had been done since the 1985 Bears which is widely considered the greatest defense in NFL history.
His second year with Seattle wasn’t too bad either as his defense would again lead the league in fewest yards and points allowed. No doubt he was hired by Atlanta as head coach to try to fix a defense that was the worst in the league last year in yards allowed.
