Hawk’s 2016 NFL Picks: Week 3

By Brent “The Hawk” Walker
Really rough week 2 for me, going 6-10 and putting me at  15-17 for the season.

[arve url=”https://youtu.be/xrvfvX6AWNs”]

After only two weeks it has already  been one of the most unpredictable seasons yet, especially in the NFC where 10 of 16 teams are 1-1 and only 3 teams, the Giants, Vikings and Eagles remain undefeated. On to week 3.
Denver Broncos (2-0) at Cincinnati Bengals (1-1)
(-3.0) (O/U 41.0)
Denver has established themselves as having the best defense in the NFL yet again and harassed Andrew Luck all game last week with 5 sacks and two defensive TD’s. Rookie QB or not it’s hard to pick against that defense.
Pick: Broncos
Minnesota Vikings (2-0) at Carolina Panthers (1-1)
(-7.0) (O/U 43.0)

Hawk’s Monday Night Football Picks: Week 1

 4:10PM PST
Pittsburgh Steelers at Washington Redskins
(+2.5) (O/U 49.0)
I think it will be interesting to see two of the best in the game at their positions go at in this one as PSteelers receiver Antonio Brown will face off against cornerback Josh Norman. Brown is one of the most unstoppable receivers in the game, but Norman is good enough to keep him semi contained.

Either way the Steelers have a stacked offense and should find a way to get it done against Washington.
Pick: Steelers 31-20

Hawks NFL Picks: Week 9

By Brent “The Hawk” Walker

A week 8 record of 7-7 puts me at 67-52 for the year.
Damn! the regular season is officially half over already. Week 9 here I come.
Team byes: Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) at New York Jets (4-3)
Line: NYJ -9.0
O/U: 40

New York suffered a surprising loss to Oakland last week. A team with one of the best defenses in the NFL got shredded by Derek Carr and company, but what better way to bounce back than to play a home game against the lowly Jaguars?
Pick: Jets

Hawks NFL Picks: Week 8 Edition

By Brent “The Hawk” Walker

A week 7 record of 9-5 puts me at 60-45 on my NFL Picks for the year. On to week 8
Team byes: Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins
Detroit Lions (1-6) at Kansas City Chiefs (2-5)
Line: KC -3.0
O/U: 44.5
(In London)

Two teams expected to be playoff teams have had those aspirations all but dashed midway through the season. The margin of error is small in this league.
Rolling with the Chiefs in this one simply because I think Detroit has already given up and the Chiefs aren’t quite there yet.
Pick: Chiefs

Hawks NFL Picks: Seahawks at 49ers (Thursday Night Football)

Note: Hawk’s picks for Sunday’s games will be released tomorrow evening (10-21).

By Brent “The Hawk” Walker

Seattle Seahawks (2-4) at San Francisco 49ers (2-4)
(+6.0) 42 O/U
Its crazy how fast things change.
For the last few years these two teams have been powerhouses and Super Bowl contenders. This year they both stumble into week 7 with 2-4 records.
Seattle once again blew a 4th quarter last week against the Panthers. This has happened in all 4 of their losses so far. It’s appalling. I have watched a lot of Seahawks over the years, seen a lot of terrible teams, but this season might be the most frustrating season I’ve ever experienced.
This is not a terrible team, not even close. The Hawks still rocks one of the most talented rosters in the league, so what is the problem? Coworkers have been asking me this all week and the truth of the matter is I have no fucking idea. But they better figure it quick or it’s going to be a long season.

Hawk’s 2015 NFL Preview: NFC West Edition (Sans Seahawks)

Hawk’s preview of the NFC West, which includes the Arizona Cardinals, St Louis Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and the Seattle Seahawks (who’ll get their own preview next)

Arizona Cardinals
Arizona was easily the most surprising team of the year in 2014. Through 9 games they were 8-1 and a favorite to win the NFC behind Carson Palmer, but in a week 10 game against the Rams the quarterback was done for the year with a torn ACL. Backup QB Drew Stanton started in his place, he looked good at times but was  wildly inconsistent and he too would get injured, leaving Ryan Lindley as the starting QB and he was terrible. Arizona would drop 4 of their last 6 and finish 11-5, only good enough for a wildcard against the Panthers, where they would lose 27-16 in historically terrible fashion. As a team they only had 78 total yards, a playoff record low.
Arizona expects Palmer to be completely healthy and follow up a season in which he threw for 1,626 yards, 11 Td’s and 3 Int’s in only 6 games, and boy will they need him.

Hawk’s NFL Picks: Week 6

It was an exciting week 5 of football as we had a lot of close games. 10 of the 14 games were won by 7 points or less, and two went into overtime. Managed a 9-5 record to put me at 43-34, and just like that here comes week 6:

Team byes: Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, St, Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

 Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars
Once again my rule is in effect, when two shitty teams face off, go for the home team. I need a name for this. I also think Jacksonville is going to start turning the corner a little bit as their offense really clicked last week in Tampa Bay. Blake Bortles threw for 303 yards and 4 TD’s.
Pick: Jaguars
