HAWK’s NFL DIVISIONAL ROUND PICKS: 2017 Edition
Picked 3 of 4 correct winners in the Wildcard Round last week. 4 more to pick this week as we enter the second round of the playoffs.
Saturday Night Divisional Playoffs
#3 Seattle Seahawks (11-5-1) at #2 Atlanta Falcons (11-5)
(-5.0) (O/U 51.5) 1:35 PM Fox
We start the second round of the playoffs with a good one. These two teams faced off during week 6. It was played in Seattle and the Seahawks pulled off a dramatic 26-24 victory.
Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman and Falcons leading receiver Julio Jones went toe to toe the whole game, but Jones got the better of him, statistically anyways. He had 7 catches for 139 yards and a Td on 9 targets. But it was Sherman that had a crucial stop on 4th and 10 in the final 1:39 of the game that would end the Falcons final attempt at a comeback.
Stopping the best receiver in the NFL is no small task but Seattle’s depleted secondary that is missing Earl Thomas will have to do just that. Sherman was not guarding Jones every play last game but he may have to be in this time. Atlanta struggled to run the ball against the Seahawks in the week 6 matchup, which is no surprise. Few teams in the league have been able to run against Bobby Wagner and company this season as they rank 7th best in the league.

AFC BYE’S- Cincinnati Bengals (3-4-1), Houston Texans (5-3), New England Cheaters (7-1)
NFC BYE’S- Arizona Cardinals (3-4-1), Chicago Bears (2-6), Washington Redskins (4-3-1)
Another week down and a second tie in two weeks as the Bengals and Redskins could not find a winner in London.
Week 8 record 7-5-1 which puts me at 62-56-2 for the year. Talk about a bizarre season. Usually you see a tie in the NFL about once every 3 years and we saw two in a row. Gonna be another quick one as now I’m sick. But here we go.
New York Jets (3-5) at Miami Dolphins (3-4)
(-3.5) (0/U 44.0)
Despite the 3-4 record I think Miami is a playoff team. That record is nothing to be ashamed of after their brutal first half of the season. Jets pass defense is garbage and Fitzpatrick is a pick machine.
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) at Kansas City Chiefs (5-2)
(-7.5) (O/U 44.0)
Alex Smith left last week’s game twice after suffering blows to the head and did not come back after the second time because they suspected he had a concussion. Turns out he did not suffer a concussion but regardless he will not play in this game.
Nick Foles will get the start. I don’t know how much it will matter. Jaguars suck yet again.

Really rough week 2 for me, going 6-10 and putting me at 15-17 for the season.
After only two weeks it has already been one of the most unpredictable seasons yet, especially in the NFC where 10 of 16 teams are 1-1 and only 3 teams, the Giants, Vikings and Eagles remain undefeated. On to week 3.
Denver Broncos (2-0) at Cincinnati Bengals (1-1)
(-3.0) (O/U 41.0)
Denver has established themselves as having the best defense in the NFL yet again and harassed Andrew Luck all game last week with 5 sacks and two defensive TD’s. Rookie QB or not it’s hard to pick against that defense.
Minnesota Vikings (2-0) at Carolina Panthers (1-1)
(-7.0) (O/U 43.0)

A great start to the NFL playoffs last week as we had two of four games have insane finishes. For the first time in history all four road teams won on wildcard weekend, which makes sense considering all the away teams were starting quarterbacks with playoff experience and all the home teams had quarterbacks starting in their first playoff games.
As is so often the case it was veteran leadership that won out. 7 quarterbacks left have played in and won a playoff game (Carson Palmer is the exception) and 5 of the 8 starting quarterbacks left have won a Super Bowl, so expect a dramatic finish to the season.
It will be Tom Brady vs Alex Smith, Ben Roethilsberger vs Peyton Manning, Russell Wilson vs Cam Newton and Aaron Rodgers vs Palmer. Talk about madness.
A last second change from the Packers to the Redskins prevented me from a clean sweep of picks, but 3-1 ain’t so bad. let’s keep it going.

One bird, stuffed into another, stuffed into another…
Welcome to The Hawk’s 2014 NFL Picks Week 13 Turducken Edition.
Note from DouBle B: This past Sunday Hawk and I were celebrating the Seahawks dismantling of the Cards and he said we need a picture of a Turducken for this week’s NFL Picks, in honor of Thanksgiving. So behind the text in the pic above? That’s a deboned chicken, stuffed into a deboned duck, stuffed into a deboned turkey. AKA “The Turducken”.
Happy Thanksging to all our visitors. Whether you celebrate it or not, you are greatly appreciated. Please, like our Facebook Page to show support.
