DouBle B’s CFB Picks 2014 – Week 3 Thursday/Friday Edition

Thursdays and Fridays games picked!…

Welcome to DouBle B’s CFB Picks 2014, Week 3. Where was week 2 you ask? Well, it was…aaaaa…(mumbles something incoherent). Seriously though I was pretty busy training at the new job last week and I didn’t get around to it. Well…the new job, and Madden 15, which Hawk bought me for my bday. That’s no excuse though, I really want to get these out every week, even if they have to be a rapid fire edition like this weeks may be.

So, here’s the drill. Today I will be picking the two top 25 matchups, one each on Thursday and Friday. The rest of the top 25 + the Washington Huskies and WSU Cougars games will be picked rapid fire style tomorrow (Friday).

By the way, if you’re curious about the background pic in the headline, its of the 1915 Oklahoma Sooners Football team, who went 10-0, including a 102-0 triumph over NW Oklahoma. The current edition of the Sooners are involved in what I see as the marquee game of the weekend when they host the Tennessee Volunteers before roughly 80,000 at Memorial Stadium.

Really I don’t see much better than that in this relatively ho-hum appearing slate of top 25 matchups. Specifically I’m not too excited about that Georgia vs South Carolina tilt in the SEC, although I probably should be. Im just thinkin’ Georgia’s gonna beat the hell outta em.

Here’s some highlights of Oklahoma’s heavily hyped qb Trevor Knight. Click the link below the video to start seeing some picks.

#LetsGetTwitchy – DouBle B Plays Destiny E02

DouBle B contributes to his inevitable addiction to Destiny

Bungie‘s online persistent world fps Destiny, so far, is worthy of the hype in my opinion.

The thing is…I never really was much of a Halo guy, meaning I haven’t really played any of them at all. So what may seem like a very familiar feeling firefight to a Halo vet seems pretty damn fresh and entertaining to me. I also haven’t played any MMO’s, so what Destiny may or may not be doing wrong in the eyes of MMO vets has no bearing to me.

Everything I’ve experienced has been…once again…fresh, from the insanely crisp graphics, to the way strangers (who are real, actual human beings sitting somewhere hopefully enjoying the same experience I am) can help me take out groups of Fallen just because they happen to be in the same section of Old Russia (which is actually modern day Kazakhstan). I haven’t been to the Moon, Mars, or anywhere else yet, but I’m pretty jacked for that.

These are the Fallen. This is also the first piece of art that was released for Destiny. Badass huh?

I’m almost certain this game may become a Skyrim level addiction for me, and thats something I’ve always wanted to say about a good sci-fi fps. Hopefully Star Wars Battlefront can come close to Destiny. And as of now there is soooooo much about the game that I don’t have any friggin’ clue about. So many things to discover, ship upgrades to purchase, Easter Eggs to collect.

I can’t wait…though I need to for a few minutes, expect kickoff around 5:15pst.

Mike Tyson Calls Reporter a Rat Piece of Sh** On Live Broadcast

And it was as awesome as it sounds…

The moment after Downer called Mike fucking Tyson a “convicted rapist”. See the smile on Iron Mike? Me neither.

Reminder: Nobody fucks with Mike Tyson. He’s a liiiiittle screwy in the head. Not like that innocent and harmless relative you have that everybody gossips about behind his or her back at the family reunion. Nuh uh. It’s more like “he’s formerly the most terrifying boxer in the world…and he once bit some dudes fucking ear off during a fight” type screwy. He can knock the shit outta you no question.

CP24 Toronto‘s Nathan Downer didn’t seem to realize that, or he left his brain at home when he happened to mention that Iron Mike was a “convicted rapist” and how that might affect the image of  Toronto’s mayor Rob Ford, who Tyson had earlier called “the best mayor in Toronto history“.

Tyson responded like you’d expect, calling Downer a “piece of shit”, a “rat piece of shit” and for a grand finale he left the interview with a “fuck you”.

Poor Mike. He was just trying to promote his one man performance show Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth.

*Warning* NSFW Language…and funny.

#LetsGetTwitchy – DouBle B Plays Destiny E01

DouBle B buys into the hype and tries Destiny

DouBle B couldn’t help but purchase Bungie‘s massively hyped online persistent world fps Destiny.

A big shout out to Twitch user THEGR8JORDINI, who became our first big Twitch fan over the weekend. He’s the cousin of Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tharold Simon. They both hail from Eunice, Louisiana.

Thanks again Jordini!

I’m gonna start playin’ around 9:00pm pst tonight. Tune in, ask questions.

Badass “The Kubrick Trilogy” Art Series by Tracie Ching

My God, its full of stars!…

I’m most def a big fan of the dearly departed director Stanley Kubrick. It’s nearly impossible for to say which of his films I like the best (Nearly. I plan on a top ten list in the near future). I’m also a big fan of Stanley Kubrick Art. Thats why when I saw these on Geek Tyrant I had to put em on here too.

Artist Tracie Ching perfectly captured the feel of three of the directors finest in her showcase titled The Kubrick Trilogy, which has stylish poster versions of The Shining, Dr Strangelove, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. They are all part of  Kubrick – An Art Show Tribute at the Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco, an exhibition that began on September 6th and includes over 60 other artists who “were invited to re-image their favorite characters, scenes, and thematic concepts from one of the world’s most prolific directors”. Seriously, theirs some insanely cool pieces in there,  if you’re in the area (like I wish I was) go check em out.

NBA Live 15 Delayed “In a Yearly Tradition”

It’s like Deja Vu but totally fuckin’ real…

Damian Lillard looks disapointed, doesn’t he?

Yesterday producer Sean O’Brien took to the NBA Live 15 blog to release an open letter announcing the most shocking video game news in the world: NBA Live 15 has been delayed to October 28th. That date is significant because its also the tipoff of the NBA season, as well as three weeks after the release of NBA 2K15. Fan and critic reaction for the Visuals Trailer must have been lukewarm. Comparing last weeks trailer (below) to the beast released from 2K in late August, I don’t see why the hell anybody would want to buy Live. But theres plenty of 2K haters out there too.

Rush’s 2112 (In Honor of TPB Season 8) – #MusicMonday

And the meek shall inherit the earth…Rush-2112-Music-Monday-Play-It-Black

In honor of the release of season 8 of Trailer Park Boys on Netflix, I’m throwin’ up my favorite album of Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles favorite band. That’s right, it’s Rush’s 2112.

A little history of this album: despite the pleadings of Mercury Records at the time for the band to not do another “concept” album (after the semi-commercial failure of the previous album, Caress of Steel), members Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Pert wrote this sci-fi masterpiece telling a dystopian story set in the year 2112. It became their breakthrough album, and eventually lead to this glorious moment where Ricky kidnaps Alex Lifeson:
