Chicago Bears

Jay Cutler just looks like an asshole doesn’t he? He seems to have permanent “stink face.” Interestingly enough, he looks right when he has a cigarette in his mouth. If you don’t know what I am talking about check out Smokin’ Jay Cutler, a site where people digitally insert cigarettes on to Jay. Its a hilarious time.  That said, any quarterback in the league would kill to have Pro Bowl receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey to throw to. They combined for over 2,700 yards and 19 TD’s. So good were those two that when Cutler missed 5 starts with a torn groin backup Josh McCown created a quarterback controversy by throwing 13 TD’s and only 1 int. Cutler would get back the job when he was healthy.
Running back Matt Forte is one of the top running backs in the game and combined for nearly 2000 all purpose yards last season, in large part thanks to a fantastic offensive line that not only helped Forte average 4.6 yards a carry but seemed to give Cutler the best protection he’s ever had in his Bears career. The offense lit up the scoreboard with nearly 28 points a game; Trailing only the record setting Broncos. The powerful offense should stay intact this year, I don’t think they lost one starter.

On the flip side the defense was second to last in points given up with just shy of 30 a game. The lack of balance led to an underachieving 8-8 record. I can only imagine the ’85 Bears players, widely considered the greatest defense in NFL history, must have been cringing all season.
The organization was well aware of this.
4 of their first 5 draft picks were spent on defense, and 7 of their 9 free agent acquisitions were also used on defense. Their biggest pick up was former Vikings defensive end Jared Allen who had the 7th most sacks in the NFL last year. He will be expected to put pressure on, among others, prolific division rival passers Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford.

If this team can drastically improve their defense, they are not only a playoff team but could win the division
