#21 Texas A&M Aggies (9-4 last season)
#9 South Carolina Gamecocks(11-2 last season)
Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina
The first top 25 game is a fuckin’ doozy, and may even be the best looking matchup on paper of the week, outside of maybe Clemson vs Georgia. It’s a reported 94 degrees in the stadium (I’m finally writing this 20 minutes before kickoff).
Both teams are replacing quarterbacks who are as good as any either program has had in its history. Shit, even people who don’t know the first thing about college football has heard of Johnny Manziel, the Aggies signal caller for the last two (epic) seasons, including his Heisman campaign as a freshman. The guy who replaces him is named Kenny Hill, who I have heard the ESPN analysts call “poised” several times today. Well, we’ll see how poised he is, really f-in quick.
You know what? I think South Carolina, heavy favorites, are gonna choke, plain and simple. Yep. A&M with the upset, which would end the nations longest current home winning streak Although I could be waaaaaay off.
Boise State Broncos (8-5 last season)
#18 Ole Miss Rebels(8-5 last season)
The Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Georgia
Both teams finished 8-5 in 2013. One played in the Mountain West. One played in the SEC. Ole Miss has a bunch of super sophs. Boise State’s whole season pretty much rests on this first matchup.
Doesn’t matter. I think the Broncos get hammered in their second straight season opener.
Weber State Wildcats (2-10 last season)
#19 Ole Miss Rebels(10-4 last season)
Sun Devil Stadium, Tempe, Arizona
7:00 PM PST
Rutgers Scarlet Knights (6-7 last season)
Washington State Cougars (6-7 last season)
Century Link Stadium, Seattle, Washington
Two mediocre teams. The Cougs seem to be on the uptick. They only lost to Auburn (the eventual national runner-up) by a touchdown last season. But they Coug’d that New Mexico Bowl, epically.
