DouBle B’s CFB Picks 2014 – Week 9: Weekend Edition

All killer no filler (actually, that was filler)…

Welcome to DouBle B’s CFB Picks 2014 Week 9: Weekend Edition.

Well…if anything has been made clear after eight weeks in the world of College Football, its that regardless of whether or not it deserves four out of the top five AP Top 25 spots the SEC is stacked. Theres been a lot of backlash over the most recent rankings, but really I think people need to calm the fuck down. Its Week 9, meaning theres still, including tomorrows action, eight weeks of football left. As brutal as the SEC is, its gonna beat itself up and the cream will rise to the top.

Anyhow, as of this moment I’ve got about fifty minutes to bust out my picks before I leave for work. So lets do this!

DouBle B’s CFB Picks 2014 – Week 9: Thursday/Friday Edition

Huskies and Cougs both play ranked teams again this week…

Welcome to DouBle B’s CFB Picks 2014 Week 9 Edition, lets start out with…

Week 8 Recap (with last week’s rank in parenthesis):

By my count I went 11-5 in Week 8, you can read those predictions HERE and HERE.

Both Oklahoma schools that I picked to win lost, with Kansas State coming into Norman and getting bailed out by an All-American kicker missing chip shots, Oklahoma State was straight plastered by a very good TCU squad, 42-16.

West Virginia over Baylor was the biggest shocker, considering how well the Bears had been playing coming in. Score was 41-27. The Mountaineers held Bryce Petty to 16/36 passing for 223 yards, well under his average.

Besides the Big 12 failing for me it was Stanford‘s 26-10 loss to ASU and Clemson taking out a pesky Boston College squad (almost had that one) 17-13.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Teaser is Here a Week Early (+Gallery)

May 1st seems like an eternity…

Avengers-Age-of-Ultron-Teaser-9

Welp…I was gonna wait until next week, when the “official”Avengers: Age of Ultron Teaser was supposed to hit. It was supposed to air during Agents of Shield episode. See, I like official copies from YouTube if I can get em. The quality is usually the best you can get and I don’t like putting non hd shit up on the site you feel me? Anyways…

Then at some point this afternoon the trailer got leaked. It wasn’t the best copy in the world, but it was good enough (understatement). It has Ultron looking menacing as hell, The Hulkbuster (pictured above) being put to use against The Hulk, and…just general rad shit.

Then Marvel Entertainment said fuck it and put out this ABSOLUTE BEAUTY of an official copy, and I had to post it. Marvel blamed Hydra for the leak:

Agents of Shield just lost an insane amount of viewers. Episode doesn’t air for six more days, everybody will have seen it by then.

2001: A Space Odyssey’s Digital Restoration Has A New Trailer (+Gallery)

HAL: “I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal. I’ve still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission. And I want to help you”…

2001-Re-Release-3

I’ve been under the weather the last couple of days and it pretty much sucks ass. Buuuut I saw this great news and knew I wouldn’t be taking the day off from Play It Black, although my energy levels won’t let me do much more than this post today. You may see me quietly kicking some ass on Twitch later tho, speaking in my now extremely nasally and stuffed up voice, coughing regularly into the mic, etc. Hell, you may even see me nod off in the middle of a game session. I’m that worn out from this…cold I guess you would call it.

Also, look for the new Wednesday Video Dump tomorrow. Those are fun…

Anyways, back to work.

2001: A Space Odyssey, directed by the late, great Stanley Kubrick (The Shining, Full Metal Jacket) has received the digital restoration treatment and will premiere on November 28th at the British Film Institute‘s (BFI) “Sci-Fi: Days of Fears and Wonder” celebration. The BFI and Warner Bros also commissioned the first new trailer for the film in forty years.

Every time I watch this film (at least once a year) I’m reminded that it came out a full ten years before the first Star Wars. That’s insane. Here’s that trailer. Click on any of the pics below it for a gallery.

Snoop Dogg – #MusicMonday Artist of the Week

And when we rock up on the mic, we rock the mic (right)
For all my doggs keepin’ y’all in health
Just to see you smile and enjoy yourself…

43 years ago today Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, aka Snoop Dogg, aka Snoop Doggy Dogg, aka Snoop Lion, aka DJ Snoopadelic, aka Snoopzilla, was born in Long Beach, California.

As a youngster it didn’t take longer than a few seconds after I heard Snoop Dogg mutter the phrase “bow wow wow yippy yo yippy yay, Doggy Dogg’s in the muthafuckin’ house”on Fuck Wit Dre Day to become a fan.

It wasn’t just his music, but his persona of a tall, chain chronic smokin’, incredibly smooth and effortlessly cool “gangster” that grabbed me. Even in 1992, with the public outcry against “gangster rap”being reignited, I wasn’t able to see how he was a bad guy for trying to entertain people.

In celebration of his birthday, heres one of my favorite rap albums of all-time: Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle. Click on the link below the music feed to go to a great video of Snoop Dogg talking about one of his craziest party experiences ever.
