Audi Spock Challenge: Quinto vs Nimoy Is The Winner

The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry…

My friends and family make finding stuff to post on the site very easy. I’ve had four taxing days of alotta work and alotta play and I was of the attitude when I got home tonight that “fuck it, I’m gonna relax, turn on a movie, and snooze in front the couch.” Buuut then I watched this extremely awesome (and nerdy) video that my amazing sister Nicolle sent me, it had to be posted.

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Audi Spock Challenge. It’s Zachary Quinto vs Leonard Nimoy. For those of you non geeks Quinto was Spock in the new Star Trek, Nimoy was in the old ones…well…in the new ones too.

I fucking love that Nimoy is singing The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins!

George Harrison Covers Aplenty In Honor of the Apple Years – #MusicMonday

The Boxset with Harrison’s first six solo albums released September 23rd..

If you’re one of my close friends, you know that pretty much my whole life I have said The Beatles were dogshit. I wouldn’t give them the time of day, and repeatedly said that they are the most overrated band in history (which may still be true).

As I’ve gotten older, my stubbornness has waned somewhat and I began to listen to their music about a year ago. Sure…some of it, what little I’ve actually had time to listen to, is absolutely great. Much of it is catchy, insanely influential, and varied. I particularly liked the album Revolver.

My point is, if you would have seen a George Harrison tribute on one of my sites a few years ago you would have to figure I was losing my mind. And shit, maybe I am, but today I’ve got a wealth of Harrison covers from the last week, including four from Conan O’Brien‘s George Harrison Week and three from last night’s George Fest: A Night to Honour the Music of George Harrison, which took place at LA’s El Rey Theater. It all coincides with last week’s release of a boxset called The Apple Years, which contains the first six albums of Harrison’s solo work and a DVD to boot.

Let’s kick it off with the first guest on O’Brien’s Harrison Week: Beck, covering “Wah-Wah”. To find the rest, including covers from Norah Jones, Harrison’s only son Dhani, Paul Simon, Brandon Flowers, Brian Wilson, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, click on the link below the video.

Shadow of Mordor Video Reviews From Gamespot, IGN, GamesRadar

And it looks…

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is one of those games I had zero interest in when it was first revealed in November 2013. The graphics looked sub par and I had no idea what the actual game was about. Now that things have cleared on both of those matters (the graphics are killer and it’s basically Assassin’s Creed in the LOTR universe and takes place between The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy) I am very, very excited to play it (releases September 30th).

But I wasn’t even gonna give it a sniff until I saw some reviews, and luckily three of the best, Gamespot, IGN, and GamesRadar, have taken care of me (and you) on that front. To watch each of those just click on the corresponding pic:

The 20 Minute Phantom Pain TGS Demo Is Jaw Dropping

Welcome to the Jungle, we’ve got fun and games…

Everything I have seen thus far from Kojima ProductionsMetal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been pretty damn refreshing and new(ish). The game mechanics are unlike anything I’ve played and the graphics have been razor sharp in showing off the desert settings that I have seen up to this point.

But now this 20 minute Tokyo Game Show demo that showed up this week has Snake in the jungle and you can’t look at it and say its even remotely possible on a last gen system.

Yes, I’m drooling over it. Enjoy the 20 Minute Phantom Pain TGS Demo!

DouBle B’s CFB Picks 2014 – Week 5: Thursday Edition (With Week 4 Recap)

Weeeeeeeeeek 5!…DouBle-Bs-CFB-Picks-2014-week-5

Welcome to DouBle B’s CFB Picks 2014 Week 5 Edition.

It’s rush mode as the 4:30pm pst kickoff between Oklahoma State and Texas Tech looms large, so  lets just get right the f*** into it, shall we?

Week 4 Recap (with last week’s rank in parenthesis):

By my count I went 11-4 in week 4. You can read those predictions HERE and HERE.

Once again, didn’t call any of the upsets. Indiana over (18) Mizzou was a pretty big shocker for me. A Big Ten team, who had just lost the previous week to Bowling Green, is able to take out a previously unbeaten SEC squad who looked above average vs UCF? Yeah…shocked.

Mississippi St over (8) LSU wasn’t a surprise for me, although, I didn’t pick it, I did say it “Could be dangerous for the Tigers”. You know what game could potentially be fantastic to watch? The Egg Bowl. But thats a long ways away.

The (1) Seminoles and (2) Ducks both escaped with their unblemished records intact. The Cougs were oh so close to scoring the biggest upset of the young season, buuuut they didn’t.

Dawgs played a gawdawful first half against Georgia State (down 14-0 at the half) , but recovered with 45 straight points in the second half.

Time to make some picks.:
